The final phase is ready to begin!

Here we go! After tons of blood, sweat and tears we are ready to move to the final phase. Jassi The Man is starting to mix the whole mess to a more sensible form. I can't say that I envy the guy: if one song has something like seven vocal tracks, 33 guitar tracks, lots of weird effects and a violin it must be hell to put 'em all to their places. But like Tapsa tends to say: it's too late to whine if you've shat your pants already.

Jassi has done some work on a couple of tracks (nicknamed Kerava and Ähtäri) and, well, what can I say? The dude knows the shit. The sound is really something unbelievable. It's brutal, it's powerful, it's promitive, it's beautiful and most of all, it's fucking massive. Say bye bye to the nice and rocking sound of the old IR and hello to the wild and exploding new IR.

We have a lot of new video footage in store, and when we'll get time to edit it you'll see the horror and madness that has plagued D-Studio for the last couple of weeks. Sorry that we've written here very little recently, but there has been so, SO much to do. Sleeping is for sissies, if you know what I mean.

We'll keep ya posted. Cheers!

Still going, not much, not fast, but we're going

..... Last weekend.... tough. I'm pissed off that I got sick and could not complete my vocals. It's allright, but it sucks. We've just been pushing, and pushing, recording, composing, recording, editing and pushing even harder to complete this monster! It's HUGE! It's beyond and uncompromising in every aspect. It just reflects EVERYTHING we are.

Luckly my voice is returning a little all the time. The recording of the vocal parts will continue on wendsday and go on all the way till friday morning. Friday morning is going to be an interesting part of the week, want to know why? Well because that will be the last time we will be recording anything on this album. For real! We have to get all the shit done by then.

I'll list you the things missing:

Bass - The ending of Kihniö & editing of Kirkkonummi
Guitar - High cleans throughout. Some leads and a few solos (like JHK from DSF)
Acoustic - Outro, and Pieksämäki
Synth - Everything else but Two Sides & Ähtäri
Vocals - Don't even get me started

But considering that the list in the beginning of this process would have been over 180 items long, this is allright. So the last days in D-Studio are going to be somewhat fucked and full of sound.

Again, yours truly

Lamantine

ps. I'm really trying to edit some video, but as the heat grows up, it's getting harder to pull it off. Stay tuned!

Bow down before the might of female vocals

Another restless night, another productive day at the studio. The vocals are starting to come together and we have been priviledged to witness the work of many extremely gifted guest singers. Jules and Galzi were fantastic, just like we expected (and they will return here for more!), and a couple of songs have also been blessed with very, VERY beautiful female vocals by Saara. "Within" has become one of the favourite songs of the whole band, and this is mainly because of Saara's wonderful singing. Three cheers to this lovely lady! The same song is also the IR's first song ever to have a violin solo. Full respect to Valo for that. We owe you big time.

We have filmed some mean footage of the last couple of days, so you can expect more video here soon. This means that you too can witness Jules & Galzi in action, as well as other kinds of abnormal behaviour. Here there is no such thing as "another day at the office". Sometimes I come to believe that this whole experience is some kind of a dream that has no ending. Just when you think that you have finished something you realize, that you have ten other things to do. If I have sometimes wondered how some bands spend months after months in studio perfecting some album, well, no more. I presume that if we didn't have a deadline and had lots of money, we would spend here the whole spring. And would check in to the nearest asylum the minute we would walk out of here.

Ok, that's it for now. Take it easy. Silmät harottaa. Ei pysty.

Tired howls and growls

Well, i've been shut in this damp hole again for a few days. The infrequent updates usually tell just one story, we're riding on a fucking high wave now. And I mean HIGH!

Yesterday was just simply awsome! I can't tell you how much I have grattitude for having a chance to work with such increadibly talented musicians like Jules (PO) & Galzi(DSF).

Jules pulled off some of the fucking greatest clean vocals I've ever heard. I really hope we will have time to do more songs with him for this album, cause his work on Kerava is just increadible. Really. It just overwhelmed me how good the stuff is starting to sound. We've got some great video coming up from those sessions. We completed one song with him yesterday and spiced it up also with little stuff from Galzi.

Speaking of Glazi, he is, has been, and will be a key part of the vocals for SOCC. He's producing all the vocals and throwing in some viciously mean cleans as well as some truly brutal growls. Today we sat down with Migu and Galzi for hours just going through the vocal arrangements and bgvocals etc. It's increadible to work (if one can call this work) with someone who shares the same vision, passion and work uncompromising work ethics as we do. He's wipping out and making the sounds of this album to be something completely unique! Hell Yeah! We just stopped recording with Galzi and I'll continue on it tommorrow. I'm a bit worried how well my physics will hang on, because this is really, really, really tough. The amount of unslept nights is just rising but my energy level is still rising! That has to be a good sing, but really this is not something I could pull off many times.

But like I said there is some awsome video coming up of Jules visit and of today. I'll have the camera runing tommorrow all the time and I'll try to edit some shit together in the evening.

3:30am
Yours truly,
Lamantine

Greetings from The Reverend

So little can words describe what has been going on...for a week I have had the honor of working with two of the most kind and creative psy-trance-musicians I know. I spent most of the week in Astroschnautzer's homestudio (wich as a matter of fact is located in the house next to my family's in Old Porvoo). This was an amazing and most satisfying trip into the world of music made with the aid of machines. Astroschnautzer is an extremely talented analog-synthesizer guru and Vishnudata complemented A State Of Constant Change with a few electric violin solos and some brutal screams and growls.

After all we accomplished in a week has now been transferred here in D-Studio all I can say is....well, nothing. Words simply can not describe the bright, queer, twisted, industrial, opening, and also crushing atmosphere that takes form in the unison of the massive sound of Insert Remedy and these mechanical soundwaves. Once again, you will just have to wait....I hope we can post some teasers soon...oh yeah...we also had the pleasure of recording some delicate, serene spoken word with our mutual friend Jsun Wallace. His beautiful Scottish accent was a cherry on top of our creating a truly unique atmosphere for SOCC.

Something little from the present. Galzi of DSF just left after assisting us in the production of the vocal tracks. He features in various songs on the album and what featuring will them Galzi's growls n' howls be, might I add!! So we're fully occupied with vocals from now on. Tomorrow we'll record the clean, intense and pretty stuff. We'll also have a visit from Saara Hannula...we're exited to have the possibility to work with so many amazing musicians. This will truly be a collective birth of a shared vision. All of it just blows my mind!!

Oh, but now I'm babbling.

So shut up. Get sum sleep. Dream worldpeace reality. It IS possible.

With compassion, kindness and a bloody kiss from my Dark Master,

The Reverend

Back in business

Here we go again - after a short break, we continue on our journey. Funny how time seems to fly when you're in studio. It feels like I just got here, and after a little work and some Xbox sessions it's 3:00 am.

Ana started on vocals today. He managed to sing/growl/scream basic vocal track on three songs before he got a headache so bad, that he was forced to leave the rest for tomorrow. As always, the ol' Lamantine squeezed everything he had out of his throat, and judging by this evening, the vocals will be GODDAMNED mean & brutal. Well, you should had seen him growling really angry while reading the lyrics from his phone, and in the middle of the song his girlfriend calls to check how things are going. "Oh hello teddy bear, are you having fun at the studio?" Damn, where's the camera when you really need it?

Galzi from Dead Shape Figure will appear here tomorrow, as well as Migu. So Ana will get some serious assistance in his work. Also Jules from Profane Omen will be here tomorrow or the day after that, so watch out! Just Imagine what will happen, when Ana, Galzi and Jules combine their forces. It will be something to remember! Hell yea!

Ok, gotta go to catch some sleep. We'll keep ya posted. Cheers!

We're having a little break

Fwheew.... Last week was absolutely crazy. Not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine how sick the first recording sessions would be. The first 8 days of studio are now behind and the sleep deprivation is finally letting go now. We recorded all the basic tracks and now we are finally ready for some serious vocal action. Today we visited the studio for a couple of hours to record the basic bass tracks. The sound is looking snapping!

The next leg of our studio session will start next tuesday and continue all the way till the end of sunday. Hopefully by the end of this leg we will be 95% done and can mostly consentrate on mixing the album, but I have a hunch that this is just a wild dream...

Well, I'll keep you posted on how we're doing and there is still yet to come the super info update as well as some really cool video.

Next week should also be intresting because thats when all the guests will come to do their shit. Galzi will be producing my vocals from tuesday to thursday and Jules from PO should arrive at the studio on friday. Juhku from DSF will also come along and throw in some sick licks one day. So STAY TUNED, allright!

Yours,
Lamantine - from home

I know it's late, but hey lets dance

This isn't quite what we thought we would do, but the D-studio madness is evident in this video. Enjoy, or don't.

This has been a good day. We're done with all of the basic electric guitar tracks (clean & distortion) and tommorrow we can consentrate on the acoustic parts. I've been repeting myself over and over again on how good this shit sounds, but damn I can't repeat it often enough. THIS STUFF SOUNDS AMAZING!!

I promised some rig info, but it's 6:33am and seriously I don't feel like sharing the info just yet. I've been up now for 20hours.

But here is a teaser again! THREE, not one, not two, but three amps controling the guitar sound. Like I said it's BIG. the combo is ENGL/ENGL/ENGL-MESA TriAxis .

Yours truly

Recording guitars - oh, the fear...

Madness is lurking in the dark corners of D-Studio. In the last 48 hours I've slept something like five hours. I'm beginning to hear voices and see hidden messages in the clouds. The workload seems endless. Well, it will be worth it, the guitar sound is quite remarkable. I mean, talking about BIG sound...

We just got pretty much all of the rythym guitars on tape and now we're working on the clean guitars. That's one nice thing about the new songs: they are by far heavier than anything we've ever done before, but there's also a lot of clean, beautiful sounds and delightful acoustic guitars. Like Jassi The Main Man said, the songs have a strong "good cop-bad cop" attitude, if you know what I mean.

Well, here we go again. Gotta go. No rest for the wicked. Tomorrow will be the day you'll see some video footage of our mischiefs here. And that's a fact.

-Sabu

Like all things great, these posts come late

So the great BIG post never made it out today...

I can tell you dear readers, it was the last thing on my mind today, really. Not that I don't want to do it, but after the last post last night something wonderfull happened. We stayed up ALL night recording, and I mean all night. The wizard of D came to work in the morning just as me and Saku were wrapping things up. So what does this all have to do with anything?

Not too much, but due to these circumstances, and the fact that today has been somewhat deprived of sleep it is late. So there it is, straight from the horses mouth.

Now I promise you this, it WILL BE out tommorrow, seriously. We've got some kick ass footage that just is crying to be let loose in the ether we call the Internet.

It's about 2.23am now and we've just begun recording the first clean guitar parts. I can tell you that they are starting to sound SWEET!! Tapsa is doing his magic. It's increadible to watch how his mind works and wrappes around all the chords to bring in some insanely beautiful melodies. Damn, well there will be some nice video of this also.

We're pretty much done building the massive wall we call the "grand heavy guitar tracks". That means that a wall of sound bigger than the mighty babel itself has been pushed and recorded and it is so crunchy that I just can't wait to get it done and out to you people.

Tudduluuu

Fuck this . Full speed ahead \m/

It's been a hectic couple of days here in DStudio. Sorry that the updates have been so irregular now, but we have been working like idiots for about 19hours a day!

I'm going to wrap all the stuff up tommorrow and post some huge video and pictures of what we've been doing as well as some really sweet technical blabber of our recording rigs and shit. Hell yeah!

At the moment the three stooges, zaKu, DapTap & Bartho are digging in to the essence of some of our riffs. This has been a crazy day. We continued writing and recording until 5am yesterday and woke up around 10am this morning and continued.

There's some great footage on how we work coming up. At one point today Migu was sitting in the kitchen looking through my lyrics and spicing them up. I was sitting in the solitary room with Perttu and looking for the sweetest sound possible for some real heavy duty basslines. While in the mean time Saku&Tapsa where recording there guitar lines at the main area.

We're really fully utilizing the potential! Fuck, just wait and hear what we have cooking. It's just going to be something completely different and it will knock your teeth out. YES!

Gotta go, and continue. There is plenty more to do.

Just as a teaser of some info coming up tommorow I can tell you that every single full guitar line consist of 8!! tracks built on two different speakers with different mic setups! It really kicks in the face

Well until the next post, yours truly

Oh, but ONE MORE THING. THE PREORDER FOR THE "Born from Oblivion" PACKAGE HAS STARTED! It's the best damn thing money can buy you at the moment and it is truly something special! We're throwing in shirts, new compilations, flyers and a ton of other cool IR stuff. If you order now you might even win a iPod Shuffle!! Or even order two or three and up the ante. Pedal to the metal

Jeps, days go by but Insert Remedy pysyy yhä väsymättömänä ja laantumattomana mutta hikisenä studion kätköissä. Kitaroita on taottu sisään ja pian olisi tarkoitus allekirjoittaneenkin saada joitakin bassopuolen ääniä biteiksi äänityssoftan matrixiin. Veijo Esso, Veijo Esso, here I come!!!!

Kitarasoundi hoidossa ja ekat riffit purkissa (plus some technical issues)

Ok, first of all, the curse of computer technology has fallen upon us. We have tried to update our blog for several times today, but our internet connection seems to be somewhat fucked up. We're trying to solve the problem, and hopefully there'll be more stuff available tomorrow. Video too!

Ja vaihteeksi jotain äidinkielelläkin. Saimme tänään loput rummut purkkiin ja Migun naama loisti kuin Naantalin aurinko. Allekirjoittanut nostaa kiltisti hattua iloiselle rumpalillemme, Pastori teki todellakin miehen työn. Kannut nakutettiin nauhalle ennätysajassa ja olemme tämän ansiosta jopa aikataulusta edellä. Uskomatonta! Ja aika helvetin komeat rummuthan me levylle saimme. Migulle tavaramerkinomaiset oudot rytmitykset ja äimistyttävät fillit ovat korostetummassa asemassa kuin ikinä. Eli eipä ole mitään perusjytinää tiedossa. Wunderbar!

Rumpujen jälkeen onkin sitten meikän vuoro. Kitarasoundia etsiessä levisi aika mairea hymy huulille, sillä sankarimme Jassi sai taiottua Englin nupista ja Mesa Boogien kaapista aika, no, perkeleellisen tiukan jyräsoundin. Siis oikeasti JYRÄÄVÄN soundin. Siinä on Gojiraa, siinä on Celtic Frostia ja siinä vaikka mitä. Massiivista jälkeä on tulossa! Neljän biisin pohjat menivät purkkiin suht kivuttomasti, tosin saapa nähdä, että miten paljon äänittäjä vittuilee huomenna kun kuulee otot (biisit äänitettiin illansuussa Anan ja Pertun avustuksella). No, sen näkee aamulla...

Good Morning - Day 3

Just wanted to say good morning to everyone. I feel like i'm crushed underneath tons of feces and the only thing moving are my fingers.

Well we continued talking, editing and being just plain stupid until 4am. Now we're up and running again. The final overview and mandatory editing of the drumtracks (which, by the way, sound at least as radiant and lively as The Reverend himself) has begun. Jarno, aka Sly-J, as the Wizard of D-Studio is helping us realize our vision with his Magik Mouse. It truly feels wonderful, just know dat.

This address will continue to be filled with a variety of (un)intresting stuff today again \m/ Danke

Days of Constant Change - PART uno

Two days in D-Studio... Take a trip.

-asdti7234 8jjh299992 7276324gsjj aka Lamistos, Passtrostos, Skagguros

The end of an intense journey into the world of The Drum

This is it. 35 hours of intense drum-bashing behind. 35 hours in 48 hours of pouring sweat. Seven songs from which none is under six minutes in length ( and two nearing the magical ten minute borderline). A most powerful dip deep into the core of my being. And just barely have I surfaced...

I'm so glad I can share this vision with all of you! Just get your hands on the finished monolith on the seventh of March and witness it all yourself!

I know that many True Metal Drummers will argue with me on this one, but...
Cursed be the wicked mind which invented a torturing machine called the double bassdrum-pedal! At one point for instance, the rubber beater of one of the pedals heated so much due to the insane speed I was forcing it to whip, that it started to melt on to the kickpad attached to the bassdrum skin. How's that for massive grinding? At many points I really felt like being bitten in the ankle by Iron Cobras! But in the end of the day I kind of enjoyed their hideous venom in my veins. So maybe I'll still use them again...

All in all...my hands have never felt llke this. Swollen and truly beaten into submission (cheers to Samuli from Profane Omen & End Begins) with a couple of nasty blisters on my fingers (yeah, I know it's just my crappy technique), this moment is without a doubt one of the most all-encompassing drum-related experiences I've ever had.

All the more it makes me think of those millions of people who are forced to work daily in inhuman circumstances, as slaves of the corrupted, or just to get their daily bread...there is something so twisted in the way that wealth is spread on our planet that it makes me sick. I am grateful from cell to spirit of every day I can live in freedom. That is, freedom of choice.

In hoping that someday each and every one of you will be able to rcognize your Inner Being and embrace the personal Truth revealed in this union, I leave ye all in the gentle hands of my Dark Master.

From Unity, through confusion and bitter suffering, towards letting go of struggling and finding balance in harmony between opposites united.

Your humble servant, The Reverend Miguliz Von Zaire

Hello hoodlums!

Ok doc, today is fine holy day to make some history. Migulizzzz will create drumlines that shake your asses and put your existence upper level while other guys just go for boxing. 12-pack looks empty. Sun is shining. Birds fly by Aeroflot to Cuba.

Night Time - T'n'A

4 songs down, 3 more to go. Med drummor, och blummor. FYI.

3 x HurraH for this victory

Our beloved prince arrives tommorrow and will bring light to these dark and dimm times. All hands rejoice for Tapsa "6strings".

IT HAS BEGUN!

Welcome ye foolish and beautiful people! Eli tervetuloa syöveriin aka In D abyss. Raastava ja holy journey into the heart of our syvimmät desires and fears is well on it's way in the form of armoton, siis merciless percussion working.

Hermoja riipivää hommaa saada visionsa narulle, so it's incomprihensibly difficult to hang your vision. But with the unwavering aid of Haile Selassie I, we've already managed to storm through two reikäistä ja eeppistä matkaa.

So much work to do still, so won't chat 'ere any longer, but stay tuned for live-footage and kamaa.

As a teaser we give you joitain något annat visuals of our tireless journey into Sacred Glory.

Yours, Pastori

We came, we saw and hopefully we'll conquer. Today was mostly spent on drum recordings on three songs. They were a blast! Migu struggled for a while with the unfamiliar drumkit, but after a few hours he tamed the damned thing. The studio itself turned out as a rather pleasant one: there's a lot of room and we can keep working for all night if we feel like it. And those sounds! This guy who's recording the whole thing, Jarno Hänninen, really knows his shit.

We'll keep you posted about how things are progressing here, and probably put all sorts of weird stuff here for your viewing pleasure. Maybe we'll even put some decent stuff here, like samples of new songs... ;) Here we go!

-Saku
